Doug Thorpe, Executive Director of Jobs Ministry Southwest spoke this morning about the need for such a non-profit in today's economy.

The Jobs Ministry Southwest  opened 14 months ago and now serves over 1200 members.  It was orginally targeting the professional population of those over 35. However in recent weeks there has been a large number of 20 something job seekers as the economy in the area has shifted again.

They offer a 6 - step process to finding jobs. Mr. Thorpe says a plan of action is a must. Also it needs to be simple and direct. He says the interview process now is changing and potential hirees need to adjust to what the interviewer is looking for to find a match. Keep the interview focused on fulfilling the companies specific need.

Doug would like to spread the word about the Jobs Ministry and that employers and recuiters are needed to network within the organization.

Sponsorships to support the ministry are available and allow the client to have exposure on their website which gets a large number of hits monthly.

The meetings are held on Tuesdays from 9-12 noon at the Sugarland /Williams Trace Baptist Church.
